How You Can See Over Central London From High Above

If you and your party want to see London in style, our chauffeurs can take you to see some of the most famous and interesting sights in the UK’s capital city.

Everyone has different priorities, and some people like to enjoy an elevated panorama of the cityscape. After all, this is exactly why some people go up the Empire State Building or visit the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

It used to be that if you wanted such a view in London, your options were more limited. Wren’s Monument in the City, which commemorated the 1666 Great Fire of London, is 202 ft (62 m) high, which is a good view but nothing like as high as those you can enjoy thanks to some spectacular modern developments.

The London Eye was opened in 2000 and transformed the South Bank area of the Thames in the vicinity of Waterloo. The big wheel rises to 443 ft (135 m) in height and it takes half an hour for a complete circuit.

Each pod can take up to 25 guests and you can hire these privately. The gentle speed means you can relax and enjoy superb views over central London, with the Houses of Parliament just across the river and many other famous buildings such as St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace in view.

The highest viewpoint of all can be enjoyed from the Shard, the tallest building in London at 1,016 ft (309.6 m). The viewing platform is located on the 68th, 69th and 72nd floors. The view is twice as elevated as any other viewing platform in London and on a clear day you can see as far as 40 miles.

Not only does that bring every London landmark into sight, but you can also enjoy seeing the Surrey Hills to the south and seeing the Thames make the transition from river to estuary as it flows into the sea.

While you can see lots of wonderful attractions close-up in London, there is no doubt about where to go if you want to see it all from up on high.
