See London’s Famous Royal Palaces Old And New
London’s tourist attractions are many, but few are as spectacular or as opulent as the royal addresses that are open to the public.
The most notable of these is Buckingham Palace itself. The King’s residence is only open for part of the year and its current period of availability is only until September 24th, so now is the time to book an advance ticket.
A fascinating place to visit at any time, it is even more interesting to tour around now as the current displays include the golden carriage used for the coronation earlier this year, as well as various vestments involved in the day’s ceremonies.
Your luxury chauffeur can take you to the Palace for your scheduled tour start time, with these lasting two and a half hours. Among your options is to get a combined ticket that will enable you to add to your tour by visiting the Royal Mews.
Another grand royal building you can visit in central London is Kensington Palace, where Queen Victoria was born. The Crown to Couture fashion exhibition is currently on display there and runs until October 29th.
Other present-day royal residences in London are not open to the public, but if you want an insight into the homes of past monarchs, there is nowhere better to go than Hampton Court Palace at Kingston- of King Henry VIII, one of England’s most famous kings.
Lesser known royal palaces include Kew Palace, which was home to King George III and Queen Charlotte. Its location at Kew Gardens means you can also enjoy visiting one of the world’s most famous botanic gardens as well.
If you are fascinated by the history of the British monarchy right up to the present day, now is a great time to visit London and see the various royal palaces.
