Why Buckingham Palace Should Be On Your London List

If you want to tour London using a luxury chauffeur service, it makes sense to see some opulent places. There are grand abbeys and cathedrals, the Palace of Westminster and beautiful art galleries to visit, but nowhere else quite matches Buckingham Palace.

While many London tourist destinations are public places and others have been taking visitors for decades or even centuries, the Palace remains something of a novelty for many.

It was first opened to the public in 1993, as the late Queen Elizabeth II sought to raise funds for the repair of Windsor Castle, which had been damaged by fire the previous year.

As the residence of the monarch – the royal standard flies over the palace when the King is at home – the palace is not open all the time and some parts will always remain private. For that reason, it is important to book ahead. But if you are going to be in London between July 11^th and September 29^th this year, the Palace will be open for visitors during this period.

You won’t see the royals during your visit because that time corresponds with their summer stay at Balmoral in Scotland, but you can see a wide array of and architectural and artistic treasures, opulent furnishings and vintage interior design.

Among the types of visits you can enjoy is the Royal Day Out, in which you will see the State Rooms, the Queen’s Gallery and the Royal Mews. The gallery is hosting an exhibition of royal portraits taken over the course of the last century.

Another option is a tour that combines a visit to the state rooms with a ‘garden highlights’ tour, showing the finest horticultural elements of the gardens, in which the late Queen Elizabeth, in particular, enjoyed spending time.

There are many great buildings to visit in London, but none offer such a truly royal experience as this.
